Jobs For Felons That Offer A Good Second Chance

We understand how frustrating it is to find a job and want you to know that every month we have thousands of people just like you visiting our website looking for work with a felony on their record. For that reason, don't expect your interviews at day cares or child care centers to go well, particularly when the topic of your background or record comes up. An employer has little incentive to hire you, and for that reason, will probably move on to the next candidate.
I was employed in IT for a little over a year in an office setting; they never asked about my background on initial hire, however one day the project manager announced that every employee had to sign a jobs for Felons background consent form… I was honest on the form but eight days later I was told my position was being eliminated and I was let go, even though I had the most seniority of all the help desk people.

The new guidance didn't change the core idea—that blanket hiring bans based on criminal records have a disproportionate impact on black and Latino workers and thus violate the Civil Rights Act; instead, it offered employers updated details on how to stay on the right side of the law.
In just the last few years, the list of jurisdictions with similar laws has expanded rapidly, although the details vary: Some apply only to public sector jobs, others allow background checks at earlier stages in the hiring process, and they all include long lists of exemptions.
Then one day I sent off a resume to a factory job with no experience required and that seemed up my alley since I had none, a few hours later they called me up and set me up with an interview, which ended up being two interviews but I was completely honest with my background and they called me back and offered me an orientation which resulted in a low paid temp job.

And that applies because criminal background checks have such a big disproportionate impact on people of color that they implicate Title VII, and the EEOC has issued major guidance clarifying for employers what the standards are when they ask about backgrounds," Emsellem says.
With the job market tight, ex-felons and other workers who often struggled to find jobs are getting a second look, according to a recent report by the Society for Human Resource Management, which surveyed more than 2,000 corporate managers and HR executives nationwide on their attitudes about ex-offenders for a report released in May.
Hotels: Custodian and maid jobs are plentiful and companies like Radisson and Embassy suites have been open to working with ex-felons in the past. The vast majority of felons however, want to make a fresh start and even a job with a low salary is a step in the right direction.
Regardless of the state you live in, your voting rights were impacted by your felony record. The company is signed to the Fair Chance Pledge, while a statement on their official careers website claims that Google ‘considers qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with legal requirements'.
